形態特徵

• Perennial, hardly tufted; rhizome stoloniferous, slender stolons terminated by a small tuber. Culms solitary or a few together, erect, 40-100 cm tall, triquetrous with shallowly concave sides, rather soft.
• Leaves few, usually shorter than culm, rarely slightly overtopping culm; blades linear, 3-10 mm wide, folded toward base, flattish above, soft; sheaths brownish.
• Corymbs compound, sublax, 7-15 cm long and as wide; rays 5-7, unequal, 2-16 cm long, each bearing 1-3 spikes; spikes ovate-elliptic, 2-4 cm long, subloosely bearing 5-17 spikelets; rachis hispidulous to nearly smooth; leafy bracts 3 or 4, lowest to 8 mm wide, to twice as long as corymb. Spikelets patent, linear to linear-lanceolate, 1-2 cm long, 2-2.75 mm wide, 10-34-flowered, more or less thick, obtuse at apex, red-brown, dull.
• Glumes broadly ovate, obtuse on back, 2-2.5 mm long, membranaceous, red-brown to dark red-brown, 5- or 7-nerved, keel greenish. Achenes orbicular-obovate, plano-convex, 1.5 mm long, grayish brown; style short; stigmas 2. Stamens 3.

分布

• 台灣 : Growing in shallow water of marshes, shore or ponds or stream margins.
• 世界 : Widely spread from the Mediterranean region through Central Asia and India eastwards to Japan.
